Having spent the evening trying to reconvince myself that this swim is doable I came across the video of David Walliams and his attempts. He went through almost exactly the same doubts and thoughts as me...the pain of people always talking to you about it just when you had found five minutes of your life to think of something else for a change, the sheer overwhelmingness of the challenge.
He did it, and in 9 months. I'm fit and determined, and I bloody well can too if it kills me.
