Another weekend, another chunk of my life spent ploughing up and down Dover harbour.
This week, much more successful than a fortnight ago (which struck me down with an evil lurgy taking two weeks to get better).
4 hours on Saturday followed by 2 today - 2 that should have been 4 but for a terrible pain in my joints that made it a bit unsafe to continue. My shoulders and arms were fine but my hip joints completely seized up...
Bit worrying, but apparently its all very common and nothing a good ibuprofen can't fix, mainly a result of the muscles seizing up in the cold.
I'm pretty confident I can do the 6 hour qualifying swim now, and that I could have done it on Saturday. The cold bothers me less every time, but it will be the cold that gets me (if anything does).
Next week will be a new start - the conditions were bad this week, I was thrown around like mad by the surf and turf. Given how much better this week has gone than two weeks ago (which destroyed me completely, I couldn't move), I'm optimistic for continued improvement. Right now, despite a still crippling ache in my hips, I feel right as rain, and up for more, so thats a significant improvement.
